Here are the nominations for some brothers nominated for ZPAA e-board positions at the September and October meetings.
We will vote at the in-person ZPAA meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
If you’re unable to attend in person or virtually, you can do a proxy vote to allow for another Brother to cast a ballot in your place.

John Hendley:
Why I’m Running for Vice President of the Zeta Pi Alumni Association
- To strengthen the lifelong brotherhood between our alumni and active members through better communication, involvement, and shared purpose.
- To continue building on the traditions that make Sigma Pi unique — pride, loyalty, and lasting friendships.
- To expand alumni engagement through events that connect brothers of all generations.
- To ensure that every brother feels valued, informed, and involved in shaping the future of our chapter.
- To carry forward the strong foundation we’ve built, while bringing fresh energy, transparency, and collaboration to the board.
- Proven leadership: Served as Scholarship Chair for the past two years, helping recognize and support deserving brothers for their academic and personal achievements.
- Event success: Planned and successfully ran the annual Baseball and Brotherhood outing at Jimmy John’s for the last three summers, growing participation and strengthening alumni bonds each year.
- Dedication to brotherhood: Passionate about giving back to the fraternity that shaped me and ensuring our Sigma Pi – Zeta Pi Chapter continues to thrive with help from our alumni brothers.
- Dependable and results-driven: I follow through on commitments and make sure things get done — the right way.
- Innovative vision: I’ve brought new ideas for events that have been implemented and communication about events and scholarship that make our Zeta Pi alumni network stronger and more connected than ever.
- Committed to our values: I lead with integrity, respect, and a deep love for Sigma Pi and its lifelong brotherhood.
Michael Hoskins:
- My vision of the next 4th counselor is someone who serves as a continuation of how Brother Jeff Waite has served in that role.
- The role would be an extension of much of what I’ve been doing as ZPAA’s communication chair; the rest is learned from Jeff’s model and mentorship.
- I’m happy to continue on maintaining the Sigma Pi Oakland website and working with Mike Laferle on Brotherhood Tree, while also reworking the alumni newsletter and keeping all needed ZPAA documents, minutes, reports as needed.
- We do need a bridge to younger alumni to be actively involved, especially since our other potential E-board members and most active ZPAA members are older alumni; maintaining the chapter and alumni master roster can be a tool to better target membership recruitment throughout the year. I feel strongly we need younger alumni to be more involved in ZPAA, or this organization is in jeopardy of fizzling out. While I do not feel I’m personally that bridge, that person to inspire younger alumni to be involved, I do hope to connect more 1:1 with younger alumni who can, in fact, become those bridges to engage more of their peers.
Ted Maier
Ted is running unopposed for the 3rd Counselor position. He has served as ZPAA’s treasurer since early 2025.
Nate Miller
- I’d like to start by saying I’m glad there’s so much interest in these roles. People running unopposed is never ideal.
- I’d like to see more involvement…I already mentioned I will be working this year to improve the Pig Roast. I also think we need a Rush committee and probably a few others.
- With more discussion outside of meeting I think committee reports can be more presentation and less debate. My goal would be not necessarily to shorten meetings, but to make them smoother and more social.
- More participating members to share the work should make things more fun. More fun = More people. Like I said, it’s all related.
Michael Szettella:
- Focus on alumni engagement:
- Advocate for ZPAA & active events to increase participation in them (members and non-members). Be present, active, and vocal.
- Focus on ZPAA membership growth:
- Act as a rush chair for ZPAA to grow our membership, strengthen our events, increase our benefits, and improve the overall experience.
- Focus on active chapter relations:
- Work directly with the active chapter to support their efforts, events, fundraising, rush, ritual, member relations, & member experience.
I believe by trusting & empowering our ebaord and committee chairs in their respective areas, we can focus our members on their strengths. Utilize all our resources and talents to best serve the active chapter & ZPAA.
I would continue to remind our alumni members that Sigma Pi is a lifelong endeavor, not just an undergraduate hobby. Today’s undergraduates need to be tomorrow’s ZPAA members.
Jeff Waite
- Mr. Waite has publicly stated that he is willing and happy to serve in whatever position the alumni want him to serve.
- In his role as ZPAA’s founding 4th Counselor, Jeff has maintained the organizations documents, filed needed paperwork with the state, maintained ZPAA Meeting minutes and agendas, compiled annual reports, and maintained active and good relations with the undergraduate chapter.
